BEAUTY DISTORTION MIRROR is an object showing the ephemerality of the concept of "beauty" via deformation. This is not only a deforming mirror, but is also the result of a deformation generated by a digital parametric design. The idea behind this project is to challenge the dominance of the perfect beauty image, which is now attainable thanks to various technological advancements, such as image retouching software or anti-aging technologies. While highlighting the current race to perfection, BEAUTY DISTORTION MIRROR reflects the illusory side of the beauty concept. Starting from a non-existent "perfect face" created by digital modeling according to the Phi ratio, its mirror reflection, with no relief, is deformed to achieve an unspecified relief form. The ratio of 1,618:1, Phi (the golden ratio), is present in nature and has been the very expression of beauty for centuries. The "perfect face" is part of this rule, where many relationships between different elements of the face are the number of gold. The idea of distortion caused by variations in the process according to various parameters relies on a self-generative distortion of lines by variables. The method of distortion is based on the deformation that dissolves the perfect features defined by the ideal proportions (the golden ratio). The parametric distortion of this geometric set system defining the "perfect face" forms is the basis of the BEAUTY DISTORTION MIRROR concept. Viewed as a self-generated three-dimensional typology by a parametric design, BEAUTY DISTORTION MIRROR deforms, in its turn, a reflection of the person in front, creating from the concept of beauty a variable correlation of the "ideal" face idea that is indeed an archetypal subconscious that we have been searching for our lives.
