beauty of errors

Cross-digital techniques

BEAUTY of ERRORS explores the poetic potential of digital imperfection, embracing the glitch as both aesthetic and philosophical gesture. Glitching, once dismissed as a malfunction, has evolved into a visual language of its own, emblematic of the post-digital condition. In this series, the glitch becomes a site of tension and transformation, where disruption gives rise to unexpected beauty. Rooted in the conceptual framework of the New Aesthetic, a term introduced by James Bridle in 2011, the series reflects the increasing entanglement of digital technologies with our physical world. Pixels, compression artifacts, and algorithmic distortions are no longer confined to screens, shaping how we see, feel, and create. BEAUTY of ERRORS engages this hybrid space, where the virtual and the tangible coalesce into a new visual sensibility. The works resonate with a kind of digital impressionism as a contemporary echo of the 19th-century movement that sought to capture fleeting moments and emotional atmospheres. Here, the brushstroke is replaced by corrupted data, and the canvas is replaced by code. The images are instinctive, intuitive, and emotionally charged, emerging from a process that values spontaneity over precision and ambiguity over clarity. They are not composed in the traditional sense, but rather unfolded as if the machine itself were dreaming in fragments. Rather than striving for perfection, BEAUTY of ERRORS embraces instability, chance, and the raw expressiveness of digital decay. It suggests that in a world increasingly mediated by algorithms and interfaces, the most human gesture may be found in the glitch — the moment when systems falter and something unexpected breaks through. This series is a celebration of that rupture, a visual symphony of errors that speaks to instinct, emotion, and the evolving aesthetics of the digital age.
