f@celess

F@CELESS is the series of digitally created vanishing portraits. It investigates the idea of hunted identities existing only in digital environments: e-spaces. Those portraits mirror the unseen, covered, camouflaged, disguised, masked, shrouded, veiled, and unveiled concealment of nowadays liquid identities. F@celess are living anonymously in e-spaces, hiding from hyper-visibility and disappearing immediately when someone attempts to approach them too closely. Using augmented reality layer AR, it is possible to discover the identities of vanishing f@ces well hidden in the portraits, but the question will still remain: who are they?

F@CELESS: A MIRROR OF LIQUID IDENTITIES NFT Exhibition curated by Art.army
According to the social theorist Zygmunt Bauman, the notion of identity is a key concept for understanding the changing and ambivalent nature of social life and personal experience in our contemporary, liquid age. As we grapple with the insecurity and uncertainty of liquid modernity, Bauman argues that our identities have become more precarious than ever. We live in an era of constant change and disposability, and as a result, our identities have become transient and deeply elusive. In a world of rapid global change, where social networks have gained prominence, our identities are in a state of continuous flux, becoming understated, invisible, or secret. All these developments contribute to a sense of fragmentation and uncertainty, in which traditional resources for identity formation are no longer straightforward or readily available.
